When I wrote in the November issue that I was considering ceasing the publication of our magazine "Késsinnimek - Roots - Racines", I received comments from our Readers. There words touched my heart. At times, I never realized how much of an impact our authors' articles had on our readership. Many recommended that I continue the magazine, but many in a different format, perhaps bi-monthly. For the immediate present, I will no longer published our fine magazine Késsinnimek - Roots - Racines. However, I will make available on my website, a CD containing all the articles from the years 2003 through 2007.
Perhpas in the future, I will reconsider re-publishing the magazine, but in a different format. In the meantime, I wish to THANK VERY SINCERELY all our AUTHORS for their dedication and volunatary contribution which really made our magazine what many of our readers indicated that our magazine was created professionally and informative. I do not wish to forget to also THANK our READERS. They are the ones who told us that they benefited from the variety of articles.
So, TO EVERYONE, MERCI BIEN - GREAT THANKS.
Donc à TOUT LE MONDE, MERCI BIEN - GREAT THANKS
Amitiés, Norm

From: "lori Lambert"Norm, I am enthralled with the Roots Magazine that you send out every month. My grandfather is a descendent of Francois Arsenault who founded Cocagne New Brunswick along with his son-in law Joseph Goguen. We are Mi'kmaq, Abenaki ( on my grandfather's side) and French Canadian. My brother and I went on the Ancestral tour of Canada this summer to Old Quebec where we saw the home of Eustache Lambert (we are from the father of Eustache Lambert and his son Gabriel Lambert) and we also found the memorials to our relatives in Cocagne. We visited Bencanour Abenaki Reserve and our G g great grandparents town of Trois Rivier and Riverie du Loup. I live in Montana onn the Flathead indian Reservation and it was so wonderful to have all of my family history before me. thank you for the inspiration you give everyone to keep searching for their roots. I know who I am now and I have the documentation to show. We are Abenaki from the Gagnon of Madawaska and Riviere du Loup...bless you ...Lor

Hi, Norm,
VERY, VERY sorry, if you are ending this wonderful email publication. I have been reading it faithfully for months...years???....and really enjoy it. Also have gotten a lot of valuable information about some of the family connections, as well as a better insight into the lives our ancestors led.
I realize there is a lot of time and work connected with anything of this sort, but if you want a vote of confidence to continue to publish this monthly.. ( or maybe bi-monthly???? If that would help???) please know you have mine.

From: Marie mrundqui@starpower.netHi, Norm,
I notice that the majority of readers favor your remaining in the publishing business -- I'm one of them. Your page rank is quite high for most google searches I do -- so, you are obviously hitting a mark, albeit a highly-qualified mark -- it is an important one. Please think about ways to reduce the amount of work you have to do to publish -- maybe trim the number of issues (bi-monthly perhaps?) -- this could be just the thing to keep you charged up -- but not over-worked. Also, you may want to think about bringing along an "intern" -- somebody to whom you could delegate many of the more routine tasks (website maintenance, etc.) leaving you time for the more pleasurable aspects of your newsletter. Anyway, I'm linking to you from my website now - as I'm sure many are as well.
FYI...I've finished the writing of my second effort, "Revisiting Anne Marie," the book that completes the research of a subject that I touched upon when I wrote the first article that you published on your site. There was so much more to this story -- I knew it when I wrote the article, and I'm going to prove it when I publish the follow on book. I'm going through an intensive edit cycle and working through footnotes, photographs, and illustrations. Then, I approach an editor/publisher.
I am inspired by your site, and the enthusiasm of your readers -- it's wonderful to know that our family histories mean so much to so many.
Take care and best of luck to you. I'm so glad that Doug Miller introduced me to your newsletter and to you.

I hope you do not end the newsletter. I know it takes lots of time, and appreciate all your efforts. A suggestion: if a monthly edition is too consuming, why not do what some organizations do and put together a quarterly edition?

From: CAMPBELL@BOSTONEMS.ORGDear Norm:
For the sake of all your work on behalf of your cousin, Kateri s Cannonization, I pray for you to continue with your work.
It is not easy to work for the Creator on behalf of all; there are many who try to set up traps so that we will fall; (Jesus Himself fell 3 times on His journey to Golgatha; Our Lamb was an inspiration to us all).
Regardless of my 2 surgeries (right & left hands for carpal tunnel) I have never forgotten that I promised you I d work on a portrait of Kateri; (and God willing), before it is my time to go home, I intend to do just that!
There is a chain-of-command with regard to who goes home and when; whether it s Mother Theresa, Princess Dianna, Pope John Paul, or Sister Lucy; all reaching out for each other to enter God s kingdom&.. and as Sister Lucy (one of the three children of Fatima) quoted; It is diabolical disorientation with regard to the destruction of the churches.
,You keep going, Warrior! We are behind you! Your crown awaits you in God s kingdom.Ami, Dee

Subject: RE: December issue - Kessinnimek-Roots-RacinesNorm, Many thanks for the update, and I think you made the right decision for the current situation. But, this does not mean that you are down and out. It simply means that for the time being, that particular project ran its course; it had a beginning, a middle, and an end. Great! Another course lies in the future.

Although I did not comment prior, I will miss the magazine. But, I also know that this was a labor of love and a hugh amount of sharing for the rest of us, therefore a hard decision to make.

Date: Thu, 15 Nov 2007 13:08:33 -0500Norm,
You can take pride in the fact that you are publishing an excellent magazine, as anyone in the editorial field who is a reader of your magazine would reassure you !
For nearly 30 years, I served as editor of the Church World, Maine's Catholic weekly, which won TOP national awards in the American Catholic Church. And a few years after I retired and had been replaced by the lady who had served as the associate editor, the Diocese ceased its publication. It did not have the readership of most of the Maine Catholics !
It seemed to me that just the fact that the paper was NOT read by the majority of the Catholics was NOT reason enugh to cease its publication. How about all those who WERE subscribing and benefitting from what they read ?
And I wonder if it is the publishing cost of your magazine that forces you to cease its publication ? If so, I wonder if there are agencies throughout the country that would help you keep your publication !
Anyhow, best wishes !
Henry
