(5) A written statement given by Edna Dorman that her parents were married in Duluth, Michigan about 1888. They had known each other in Bury P.Q. as they lived on adjacent farms. When Louise's parents (Louis David Guertin & Reine Philomène Lizotte) sold their farm and homesteaded in North Dakota, they followed them. I have copies of the requests for U.S. citizenship for Louis Guertin in 1885, County of Rolette and Arthur Dorman in 1888, County of Bottineau, North Dakota.
My grandmother wrote that they had three years of crop failures and moved to Balston Spa N.Y. where my grandmother, Edna J. Dorman, was born on 30 Aug.1891. Her mother Louise and her grandparents died in Balston Spa and are burried there. Arthur Dorman died in Bury,P.Q. on 17, July 1916.
Records from the Bury,P.Q. area show my great-great grandfather, Louis Guertin, traveling between Bury and the New Hartford Conn. area as well as the Lizottes who also moved between Bury and Conn. I wonder if they were married in Conn?I have records of some of their children being baptized in St.Raphael's Roman Catholic Church in Bury,P.Q.
