* there is serious doubts as to the presummed French origine of Catherine Fortier/Forestier... partly because of behavior pattern of most of their early descendants... and partly because at least one of their granddaughter (daughter of the sister of Maurice) has been identified as being "algonquine" in certain old history books, see the history of Jean CADIEUX and his wife... and partly because of oral tradition...
** "MONTOUR" dit name was taken by most of the Couc siblings and their spouses in memory Louis Couc dit Montour after his assassination, this was a native custom to take the name of a deceased that was highly respected... most of the Montour today are descendants of his sisters rather than thru his direct male line...
