T MARTINEAU - Former Palace Gardener Dies
A former gardener at the Archbishops Palace here, Theophile Martineau of 41 Verdun Street, Hull, died suddenly Monday afternoon. He was 68. Mr Martineau died as he was reporting for night shift as watchman at the new Roman Catholic Seminary on the Montreal Road near the St Louis Marie de Monfort Hospital. He had been a member of the palace grounds staff for many years, but ill health forced him to retire about six months ago.
A native of Hull, he lived there all his life. He married the former Regina Gagnon in Hull 43 years ago. He attended Notre Dame de Grace Church. Left in addition to his wife are nine sons; Arthur, Mozart, Andre, Jean-Marc, Charles, Robert, Francois and Yvon, all of Hull, and Rev Brother Claude of the Christian Brothers School, Montreal; three daughters, Mrs Leopaul (Cecile) Lalande of Hull, Mrs Henri (Reine-Aimee) Cousineau of Gatineau and Mrs Marcel (Celine) Lafrance of Montreal; and 26 grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Thursday from the Gauthier Parlors, 101 Notre Dame Street, Hull, to Notre Dame de Grace Church for requiem high mass at 7:50 am. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Hull.


Charles Omer Joseph Guy MARTINEAU, the son of Théophile MARTINEAU & Régina GAGNON was born on 30 and baptized on 31 October 1922 in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Hull, Québec. He died on 13 July 1992 in the Jewish General Hosptial, Montréal, Québec. He was buried on 17 July 1992 in Rideau Memorial Gardens Crematorium. He married Mary Catherine (Kateleen) Francis ELLIS on 26 May 1951 in St-Jean-Vianney Church, Hull, Co. Gatineau, Québec. Mary Catherine was born on 23 and baptized on 24 June 1927 in St-Jean-Marie-Vianney, Gatineau, Mills, Co. Papineau, Québec.
